Ah, MapleStory, the topic dominates most lunch-time discussions between my friends nowadays - and for good reason. For the most part Maple Story is completely free and doesn't disappoint, the graphics have an anime style and are appealing to the eyes and are fresh. Gameplay is polished and the controls can be catered towards your preference with ease. The game is in 2-D and follows a side-scrolling format. Engaging monsters in battle couldn't be easier, just get in range of one and hack away with whatever - even a fish on a stick will work. Different items can be bought to change your appearence - from clothing and accessories right down to your eyes, hair and skin. This variety adds to a wide array of colourful characters, some more bizzare than beautiful. My only major gripe with MapleStory is the skill point system. Once you put a status point into a status, you can't take it back, this can be very unforgiving. Other than that I would totally recommend this game to others and - who knows, maybe this'll be the MMORPG you've been searching for all this time.

This is a very professionally created game. Over 40 servers to chose from so if you dont want to play in a crowded server you wont. There are always people on though.

The 2-d graphics are as clean and smooth as 2-d could get. I would prefer it over alot of other 3-d games just because its made so beautifully. Every item, weapon, equipment, etc is made with all the same quality.

I agree with everyone about leveling though. I just started playing a week ago. It seems like out of no where you go from leveling in 10 mins to leveling in 5 hours. I am only level 13 (training now at the moment) but it has been around an hour and im 22.31% to level 14.

The website tells you that this game isn't made just to level up though. It is true there are quests, adventures, friends, trading, item making, mini games and other things to do in the game.

All in all, give it a try, dont get frustrated about the leveling, just have many tasks in the game to even it out. Like explore the world while you level and make friends, and go on quests and enjoy MapleStory.

MapleStory is a cool game which you can't describe by words. It is like the most interesting game on earth. I even see adults and tennagers playing it that means that MapleStory is popular whether among children, teenagers or adults.

MapleStory is an interesting game which includes buying potion to recover health and mana, buying weapons and armors to fight better monsters and the monsters are all weird and cute. Whether boy or girl, all people like to play MapleStory I hope you will try it out and test the power of MapleStory yeah!

I could also say that MapleStory is a great way to meet friends, with no more hacking now and what's more, we got hidden places which are in unseeable areas. The hidden places are with not many people because not many people know it. It's a great way to level up fast. With jobs as warrior, archer, thief and magician. There is also 2nd job, 3rd job and 4th jobs. You could also see the GM in the games sometimes wow! (maybe if you're lucky the GM will give you cool stuff).

Yes, I admit that this game is very addicting. I don't think this game is even close to the current 3-D technology, but nevertheless, this game is a must have.

When you play this game, you just can't stop but that doesn't mean i like it. I'm a level 54 cleric right now and guess what? This game would probably be the slowest leveling game you ever came across and this game is kind of too childish to me.

Yes this game is "cute" and stuff, but it makes everything in life seem to be easy and effortless. RYL is the type of game that I like, but the graphics are unstable, and lag is inevitable.

Maplestory is my replacement for RYL, and it's a completely playable game, so I have no idea what the person said it's unplayable is talking about. You should get this game if you're tired of the serious, real-life games such as RYL. This game (amazingly), has tiny requirements so it's completely playable and enjoyable.

MapleStory is probably the best game I have ever played in my life. The graphics may be two dimensional but they are beautiful. The music is fantastic and it matches the game perfectly. There are MANY quests, guilds and mini-games! The game IS free but if you want to take it to another level you can pay to have a pet and other cash shop items.

I've played MapleStory for one and a half years and I am far from being tired of it. I can't see any major flaws in this game, except that leveling is really too long (after level 35, 6-8 hours per level up is kind of too much). What I particularly like about MapleStory is that the game keeps getting improved. For example, a short while ago they added the new Lego Land to the game.

I guess I can't force people to play this game but you must know that I, as well as over 500,000 other maple users, think that this game is worth the download.

It has wonderful graphics, lets you interact with your friends and is free. It has a cash shop which lets you try on clothes and allows you to buy if you have money. (real money - one bad point aboout the game). It has awesome music and lets you advance on to the job of a warrior, magician, bowman or thief.

Warrior is able to advance as a: Figther, Page, Spearman (personally I prefer spearman)

Magician is able to advance as a: Fire wiz, Ice wiz, Cleric (Cleric is very much sought after)

Bowman is able to advance as a: hunter, crossbowman (Crossbowman is more powerful)

Thief able to advance as a: Bandit, Assasin (Assasin is cooler)

Please do not care about my personal preference! The other bad points are if you are unfunded it may be tough but I love this game! If you have not downloaded it yet, you know you wanna play!

MapleStory is actually really fun. All of those people who say it's boring, don't know how to play. I can easily get a lvl 50 in two month of playing, so if u say that leveling is insanely slow, you’re stupid.

    Just some facts:

    There is no "zuna".

There are over 30 different bosses that are lvl 10 to lvl 120

The strongest boss is named HORNTAIL

You can't mess up your stats, they get reset at 1st job advancement.

Maplestory actually helps new players by telling them where to put skill points and ap points.

There are a number of easy-to-do events that give you Maplepoints (same as NX cash)

Every now and then you get cash items for free. ( at lvl 20 you get a random pet)

there is a lot of variety of places that you can explore (20 totally different places)

OK, to an orindary person Maple will get repetitive. But don't all games at some point get repitve? If Maple would just increase leveling by 2x permanently people wouldn't complain so much. In fact, in the Wizet FAQ they clearly said the game wasn't about leveling up. Now that I got that out of the way, in Maple Story you create a character. You can't choose from much, I know, without Cash Shop most people look the same. You start out as a beginner but you're supposed to train your way in to the 4 classes: Mage, Bowman, Warrior, Thief and each one has specfic classes like Fire Mage, Bandit, Crossbow Man, etc. etc..

Only in some versions the graphics are OK to me.

If you've got the time and are willing for some repetitiveness, Maple Story will be a great game!

I picked up a copy of MapleStory from mapleglobal.com a couple months ago, created an account, and started the game. From then on, I was completely immersed in the stunning game play. At the beginning, before I even started playing, I had the choice of 3 servers, each with 20 channels - enough choice not to have to worry about lag. The soundtrack for the game was varied and excellent, and the graphics were polished. With the next major update slated to come out soon, this game just keeps getting better and better. Granted, there is the ever present hacking community, as there is in any RPG, but the overall effect that they have on gameplay is very small. All in all, this is one of the better games I have played recently.

I definitely recommend this game to people who are looking for a cute role-playing game.

I myself have a "Level 30 Lightning Wizard", this game is missing a few things. It takes W-A-Y too long to level. It took me around 3 hours to get to HALF a level, later it would take even more.

The game has very basic controls, no combos needed or double-keypressing. Another thing that is is missing is partying, it does have a party system but is not very encouraging to have a party unless your partner can kill as fast as you or faster. When you party with someone, you lose around 40% of the experience you would normally gain from a monster which is pretty depressing.

    This is a great game!
