In “The Mollusc” you play as a mollusk, which is swimming around and, for one reason or another, wants to get to a big shiny round thing.

The game is very, very retro and holds itself up as a prime example of what can be done when game play is the key point of a game and just having fun is the goal. The graphics are very simple and the minimalist soundtrack continues to get more and more infectious.

Playing this game is never not fun due to the some how charming nature of the main character and his near total apathy of what’s happening around him (or her). The object is to collect little disc things which are hiding around the level. Avoiding the spikes is imperative and also some mean ghosts will try and grab you.

For some reason I was fascinated with the scoring in this game: ten points for a completed level and minus five for losing a life. It’s a brilliant system one which I am surprised I’ve never seen before. I’m sure you get bonus points for collecting the “keys” though, which is pretty cool too.

In conclusion, this is a simple but some how great game. I recommend you play this game the first chance you get, it's fun, it's addictive and it's just plain cool.
